went to test drive 2 cars yesterday - daihatsu sirion and honda jazz.

1) daihatsu sirion - the sales agent appears rather uninterested in serving me, because he probably knows i'm not going to commit on the spot. his attitude is rather off-putting. anyway i test drove the car. it didn't feel like a car - i felt more like i was driving a van! it felt heavy and draggy. and the brakes weren't very sensitive. i had to depress it a lot harder than i normally do for the honda civic i drive before it starts to decelerate. using that kind of force on my honda civic would result in an e-brake! and the steering wasn't that responsive either. i almost couldn't sense the power assisted steering. no wonder the price of the car (though i swear it's a van!) is only $475000.

2) honda jazz - i was professionally greeted by a sales guy. a good looking one whom my friend and i suspected was aj. lol. my friend (a gal) complained that he seemed more interested in talking to me than to her. haha. and during the test drive, he was singing kylie's "spinning around" when i stupidly made an extra round the building. and he asked me a couple of personal questions too. (for those reading this, i'm harbouring no thoughts towards him, even though he's good looking and rather charismatic!) ok back to the car. it's compact and didn't feel draggy. pick up is quite all right for a 1.4. the brake and steering were a lot more responsive. maneuvering was pretty decent. and most of all, i didn't feel like i was driving a van! but i can't really say that the journey was smooth, as the roads around ubi where i tested drove were rather bumpy. the car didn't manage to absorb the bumps though. the main selling point of the car is it's exceptional fuel efficient engine.

am going to test drive suzuki swift sometime this week. based on reviews, it's a very stable car, but it drinks quite a bit compared to the jazz. has anyone driven in a swift or jazz before? care to give me some comments?

woke up early

if you consider 10 am early, then yeah, i woke up early today. i've been waking up at 7 am almost everyday to go to work that it's quite impossible for me to sleep till noon on the weekends. talk about biological clock.

i'm gonna stay home and do lesson planning for next week, then head off for dinner with one of my lesbian friends. she's quite cool to hang out with, and of coz, she always offers to come pick me up in her mercz and send me back afterwards. lol. think we should be eating at this famous claypot rice at geylang lor. 33. i've been there a few times, and it's really good. you've to ring them an hour before you go down, and they'll start cooking your rice. it isn't one of those "mass production" claypots you get in the food courts. alternatively, you can go there and wait for an hour if you don't call. :)

c & c (coffee and ciggs) while doing my lessonplanning is quite a bliss. :)

Charity is not about business. It should not be run as a business. Judging from it, this is not just a simple issue of greed, but also deception and legal intimidation. 2 people were forced to apologise to NFK for stating the truth. We need standards, transparency and accountability in charity organisations. Ultimately, we need compassion and volunteerism, not greed and deception. The common people donated their hard-earned money out of kindness for a good cause - to help kidney patients - definately do not expect their money to be spent so lavishly, especially when some donors themselves could be facing financial problems from time to time.
No one will bother if Mr Durai is the CEO of a private business profit driven company and answerable to sharholders. We must remind ourselves the keywords here are "charity" and "non-profit". NKF is a charity organisation, which should be "needy-focused" and not "customer-focused". Relationships with Proton Web Solution and Global Net Relations greatly proved otherwise. To work for charity is both noble and a calling. At the same time, Mr Durai is accountable to the public on how the money are spent. He must be transparent and there is no good reason that he is less than forthcoming with these infomations. NKF's account must now be scrutinised thoroughly if they want to restore the public's confidence in them. The Board's role cannot be overlooked too, and in this case they have failed to discharge their duties and responsibilities.
According to reports, most of the kidney patients are paying 75% of the cost of treatment for dialysis. NKF has been asking and getting so much money from the public every year, then why are they giving out so little to the patients, by paying only a mere 25% of the treatment? The NKF reserves has got enough to last for the next 30 years, but why are the money not used now to help lighten the financial burdens of our kidney patients? Instead, is there a need for NKF to be in a state of "self-sufficent" for the next 30 years?
This will no doubt result in people losing confidence, faith and trust in NKF, and many to cease their donations. Kidney patients who truly and surely require the money to aid their treatments will be unfairly and helplessly affected. Already devastated by their health conditions, they now have to worry about, if donations will still continuously roll in, for the good sake of helping the patients. This current fiasco will upset them, especially for those who have been relying heavily on NKF's finance support.
Is Mr Durai guilty of mis-handling the funds? Should Mr Durai step down? Should the other directors in NKF be held responsible for this incident? Will NKF regain the people's confidence and trust? Regardless of the answers, we must come to this conclusion that the people who will be at the suffering end will be our unfortunate patients. Let's hope we will not lose our way with anger on these embarrassing mis-deeds and neglect our care for the needy. Let them know we still care, and will continue to care for them.

Those who are more fundamentalist than I am will probably think it's heresy for a person to post what type of X-men character they are, or what kind of seduction skills they have. But its ok. These are just their opinions about a young impetuous fool who had not gone through much in life. Their opinions are not heresy.

At least that young impetuous fool does not stand behind the pulpit and turn God's words around, resulting in false teachings. No, I have never mentioned any names at all. What I am writing is what the Bible says will happen in the last days: false teachers, false prophets, false churches, etc.

And he wonders, since he did not mention anyone or any churches in particualr are false teachers/prophets in his previous posting, why is it that someone from a particular church singles out that comment and claim they are the subject? Unless they know it in their hearts that they are?

I am feeling a mixture of anger and sadness.

Jesus is DEFINITELY coming back soon, but certain shepherds are still feeding poison to their sheeps. I should not even call them shepherds because the bible calls them FALSE TEACHERS AND FALSE PROPHETS.

2 Peter 2:1 "But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who secretly will bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing on themselves swift destruction."

My heart goes out to the innocent sheeps in the congregation who absorb wrong teachings. But God is sovereign and I believe He will deliever His own flocks. The false teachers and prophets will be held accountable.

These false teachers and false prophets are fulfiling the last day prophesies, and they do not even know it, ironically. They mix Jesus with heretic teachings, spend the whole day debating about different theories, integrate Jesus's teachings with other religions because "we can supposedly learn from them", believe there is no such thing as ABSOLUTE TRUTH, and even wonder if Jesus was gay? They use the church and the pulpit as a platform to propagate their agendas, disbelieve that every word in the Bible is the word of God - and they insist that men were the one who compiled them and thus is inaccurate. They do not see that God is so sovereign that He has His own ways to protect His own words. Ironically, they do not even know that the so called Bible which they do not believe is the ABSOLUTE TRUTH, actually talks about their existence in our generation in Revelations.

Laodicea is geographically a place where the hot and cold springs meet, and thus the water there is lukewarm. When a church leadership is made up of conservatives and liberals, that place becomes lukewarm, a Laodicean church.

And oh yes, they do not actually believe that the Bible should include the book of Revelation.

The Seventh Church - Laodecia

"And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. Laodecia was located on the river Lycus not far from Colosse. The surrounding area was predominantly that of rich farming which produced abundant supplies for the city. More importantly Laodecia was situated on the crossroads of most important Ionian cities (at that time). Because of its handy position on the beaten track Laodecia was a rather...vigorous trade center, and of course where ever there is money ravens gather (uh, banks that is) so as a result the Laodecians were quite well off. Laodecia also had the uncanny "fortune" of being situated on the mountainside of a volcano. As such it had a number of hot, cold, and lukewarm springs. These were well known for their medicinal properties, and many sick people pilgramiged to take advantage of the physicians, the eye salve, and the springs. It is a good point to mention now that while the waters were extremely pleasing to the body, to drink it was rather nauseating.

As a stark contrast to Philadelphia, Laodecia was not a church that Jesus had anything good to say about. He begins by saying that he knows their works, but would rather they made up their minds whether they were faithful (hot) or unfaithful (cold). Because they sit on the fence, compromise with the uncompromisable Christ will spue them out of his mouth, as such he will not accept them in their present state. Their material wealth and false spiritualism which they so proudly display is seen right through, as Christ says they are poor, wretched, miserable, blind and naked. What he means it that they have no real spiritual depth, perception and are more concerned with earthly matters than spiritual ones. They are more concerned with their own selves than with others. They were apparently at ease in a world relatively hostile to the gospel. However, their comfort and riches were costing them in their relationship with Jesus. His strong rebuke to them (I will spit you out of my mouth) implies they were sitting on the fence between God?s kingdom and the world's kingdom. They were being just good enough to feel ok about themselves. They were timid about evangelism and the potential confrontation that comes from sharing the gospel.

Because of this he counsels them to open their eyes to real priorities, and to redirect themselves to matters of more consequence than how rich they are. He tells them to be zealous and repent of their 'lukewarm' spirituality. The closing verses promise us eternity with Christ if we push forward in the faith and overcome the temptations of Satan.

The Laodiceans had a very high concept of themselves (see Rom. 12:3). Because they believed they were fine, they were satisfied with who they thought they were. As a result, they depended on themselves instead of on God, and more and more they became victims of the enemy.

"Nevertheless, we have to take into account the guilt of our disloyalty
to God and our lack of obedience. We have to recognize the necessity to
pay the penalty ourselves to satisfy the concept of the justice of God.
We have to accept the punishment for our sinfulness. We do not look for
substitutes but for examples of faithfulness to God. True repentance
must necessarily precede forgiveness from God. All these truths are
clearly taught in Scripture.

When Christ calls us to deny ourselves and take up the cross and follow
Him each one of us has to take up his or her own cross due to one's
sinfulness and pay the price in repentance and seek forgiveness. No one
can be a substitute for the punishment or penalty for what we have done
or left undone. This is the cross we bear because we sin.

There is yet another Cross of suffering which one has to bear because
he or she has been sinned against by those who rejected you because of
who you are. This is peculiar to most of you when you have been
condemned for your sexual orientation. This is the cross that is borne by those
who are sinned against."

I totally disagree with what the preacher says that we have to "take into account the guilt of our disloyalty and the necessity to pay the penalty ourselves to satisfy the concept of justice, and to accept the punishment ourselves for our sinfulness." This is as good as saying what Jesus did on the cross was NOT enough, and we have to add on to it.

Heb 7:27 who does not need, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice daily, first for his own sins and then for the people's sins. For He did this ONCE for all, when He offered up Himself.

Heb 10:12 But this Man, after He had offered ONE SACRIFICE for sins FOREVER, sat down on the right of God.

Rom 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Rom 8:2 But the Law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh;
Rom 8:4 so that the righteousness of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

Rom 8:32 Truly He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
Rom 8:33 Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God who justifies.
Rom 8:34 Who is he condemning? It is Christ who has died, but rather also who is raised, who is also at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.

When Jesus talks about denying ourselves, He is talking abt our self efforts, our performances, our attempts to keep the Law for ourselves, and our worthless idols, or lying vanities. (Jonah 2:8) . And to take up the cross means to take up HIS righteousness!

Rom 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of One shall many be made righteous.

Rom 3:22 even the righteousness of God through the faith of Jesus Christ, toward all and upon all those who believe.

Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,
Rom 3:24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus;
Rom 3:25 whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness through the passing by of the sins that had taken place before, in the forbearance of God;
Rom 3:26 for the display of His righteousness at this time, for Him to be just and, forgiving the one being of the faith of Jesus.
Rom 3:27 Then where is the boasting? It is excluded. Through what law? Of works? No, but through the law of faith.
Rom 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the works of the Law.

Rom 5:17 For if by one man's offense death reigned by one, much more they who receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by One, Jesus Christ.

There is no need for us to go around with a guilty conscience whenver we do something wrong. Why? The price has already been paid for on the cross. And more importantly, Hebrews 9 says:

Heb 9:14 how much more shall the blood of Christ (who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God) PURGE YOUR CONSCIENCE from dead works to serve the living God?
Heb 9:15 And for this cause He is the Mediator of the new covenant, so that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, those who are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

Feeling guilty and having a bad conscience DOES NOT EARN YOU YOUR FORGIVENESS. If it does, there is NO NEED for Jesus to die on the cross at all - we should then all just apologise to God and go around feeling guilty. If EVERY PRICE has been paid for on the cross, and EVERY PUNISHMENTS meted out on Jesus on the cross, how does feeling guilty and having a bad conscience to what we had done wrong help? Isn't a guilty conscience a WORTHLESS IDOL or LYING VANITY, as mentioned in Jonah 2:8? And why is there a need for the Blood of Jesus to PURGE OUR CONSCIENCE if we need to be guilty strickened and conscience-conscious?
